Design Concept Audi quattro Spyder

Spectacular sports car concept

The sensation at the 1991 IAA in Frankfurt was a flat sports coupé with a V6 mid-engine and a spectacular aluminium body. When rumours emerged that the Audi quattro Spyder was going to be built, Audi dealers received hundreds of enquiries. But in the end, only two prototypes were constructed.

Highlights

V6 mid-engine
The V6, installed transversely behind the seats, has an output of 128 kW (174 bhp). This mid-engine concept ensures that weight is distributed optimally.

Aluminium body

The aluminium body is 20 - 40 percent lighter than a comparable steel body. That is why the vehicle only weighs 1100 kilograms.
